Hazen aan het rammelen! - Hare's March madness!

Regelmatig ben ik naar de Hempolder geweest om de activiteit van de hazen in de gaten te houden. Vele keren voor niets dus. Gelukkig was ik eind maart 2012 op het juiste moment aanwezig en heb ik leuke beelden kunnen maken van de nodige activiteiten.
Helaas wel wat ver weg, maar wie weet een volgende keer dichter bij.

I have regularly been to the Hempolder to keep an eye on the activity of the hares. So many times for nothing. Fortunately, I was present at the right time at the end of March 2012 and I was able to make nice images of the necessary activities.
Unfortunately a bit far away, but who knows closer next time.

Bosuilen in het hart van de stad - Tawny Owls in the city center.
Begin maart 2014 hoorde ik via een andere fotograaf over bosuilen, een familie van 5, pa, moe en 3 jongen, in het centrum van Haarlem.
Omdat we de volgende dag toch naar IKEA moesten ben ik op de aangegeven locatie gaan kijken. Gelukkig lopen er wat lui met camera's zodat ik wist waar ik moest kijken. Er zaten drie jongen hoog in een boom en ook een van de ouders. Het licht was matig maar de uilen waren goed te zien.
Early March 2014 I heard from another Photographer about Tawny Owls, a family of 5, Mam, Dad and three young, in the city centre of Haarlem.
Being nearby the next day visiting IKEA I had a quick look at the given location. There were some people with camera’s so I new where to look. There were three young birds high up in the tree and also one of the parents. Light was bad but the birds were good to see.

Aangezien ik de volgende vrijdag vrij was ben ik nar Haarlem gereden in de hoop dat de uilen er nog zouden zitten en het licht beter zou zijn.
Having a day off I next Friday, I drove to the location hoping on nice light and a good view on the birds.

Helaas was er maar een jong te zien en later ook een van de ouders.
Well, there was only one young visible and later on we spotted one of the parents as well.

Zoals gebruikelijk bij bosuilen overdag zaten ze maar te zitten.
Een keer deed het jong de ogen open om te horen wat dat geklik toch was.
As Tawny Owls do most often during the day, nothing happened. Once the young opened it’s eyes and looked what was causing all that clicking noise.
Well, it was a nice experience and amazing these birds nesting in the city.
Alaska 2013
From Anchorage we flew in with a water plain tour first location, Brook Falls. Unfortunately this was a bit disappointing. It was very tourist cal with platforms where you were allowed to view bears for an hour after which to had to move t a next platform. Besides this there was hardly salmon and therefor only a few bears as well.
Luckily for us they are only interested in salmon. However, we were happy with our armed pilot who payed attention to the surroundings whilst we were looking through our ocular.
Steenarenden in Zweden - Golden Eagles in Sweden.
In maart 2013 heb ik, samen met Bert van den Broek, via Han Bouwmeester Nature Photography een fotoreis geboekt naar Zweden.
In de buurt van Skellefteå hebben we de mogelijkheid gehad steenarenden te fotograferen vanuit een comfortabele fotohut. Conny Lundström is hier al vele jaren met deze vogels bezig en heeft veel ervaring opgedaan met deze schitterende roofvogels.
March 2013 I book a photo trip to Sweden together with my friend Bert van den Broek through Han Bouwmeester Nature Photography.In the neighbourhood of Skellefteå you have the opportunity to see Golden Eagles and take pictures from a photo hide. For many years now, Conny Lundström is working with these birds and gained a lot of knowledge.
Of course there's always the chance that other guest may show up in front of the camera, like;
woodpeckers, bullfinches, hawk and maybe a fox.
